Why do I have to drink a lot of vodka or whiskey to get the same buzz I get from just two or three beers?

Catfish 3000 asked:

I’ve always been just a beer drinker but had to give up all products made from yeast for medical reasons. I could get a nice head buzz from two or three beers, which is less than 2 ounces of alcohol. When I drink vodka or whiskey, it takes 5 or 6 shots (3 or 4 ounces of alcohol) to get the same effect. It doesn’t matter whether I drink it straight or mix with soda or juice.

The Drought Of Goal Scoring In The World Cup Tournament And Possible Reasons Why

Posted on June 30th, 2010 by Andrew Miller  |  No Comments »

While the World Cup this year may end up being the most watched event in the history of television (estimates say 800 million people are watching), I have found the tournament so far disappointing. What happened to all the goals? Here are some theories.

It’s unfortunate that the tournament has been a let down so far. You can’t tell me otherwise. Most games have been ties, usually 1 goal a piece, or a team has won 1-0. Call me old fashioned, but I want to see some goals! There are many possible reasons for this drought in scoring.

A new ball, called the Jabulani, was introduced for this year’s World Cup. It is supposed to bend more unpredictably than previous balls, however maybe its possible that its hurting the players goal scoring opportunities more than it is helping it.

Another possible cause of the lack of goals is teams are just playing better defense. There have been less shots on goal, so its possible.

Those awful noise makers. The vuvuzelas make these games sound like a bee’s nest. I almost prefer to watch the game on mute. I can’t imagine how those things effect the players’ mindset.

The climate. Seeing as this is the first World Cup in Africa, it is possible that the climate change is affecting the players. Ironically enough, the weather has been freezing with heavy rain at times in this African hosted tournament.

I don’t mean to be a pessimist because there have been some highlights. The first upset occurred when Switzerland beat the heavily favored Spaniards 1-0. The United States managed to tie England, which is better than losing to England.

Unfortunately for South Africa, it looks like they will not make it out of the first round. The host country played brilliantly against Mexico the other day, resulting in a 1-1 tie. But today they lost to Uruguay in a crushing 3-0 loss.

A Few Great Programs On Television

Posted on June 29th, 2010 by Andrew Miller  |  No Comments »

With a new season of winter television upon us, it’s time to find a few shows to watch on a weekly basis. You may be thinking that there isn’t much good programming on television, but that’s not the case.

There are probably some shows that you’ve never heard of, or simply ones that you didn’t think you’d enjoy. If you give them a chance after watching an episode or two, I’m confident that you’ll begin to watch them regularly.

Here are a few shows you can watch live or DVR during these cold winter months. Hopefully I’ll turn you onto a new one here.

First, there’s Better Off Ted on ABC. What’s the best way to describe this show? I guess I’d say that the plot kind of resembles that of The Office, as it takes place in a corporate setting and pokes fun at the day to day nuances of office life.

The humor here is a bit more dry, but it’s definitely in the same mold as some of the other office based comedies. The writing has notably improved since the show’s first season, and it’s definitely worth watching.

A new series on TNT that’s caught my eye is Men of a Certain Age. This show boasts an impressive cast that includes Ray Romano, and it’s a great mix of comedy and drama about some middle aged men coming to terms with their lives.

Romano is back, seeking to find success in a second series, and he may well do that here. This show pulls you in after an episode or two.

Since we’ve covered comedies and dramas, it’s time to look at reality TV. The Biggest Loser is airing a new season that has many people buzzing, and MTV has its viewers anxiously waiting for new episodes of Jersey Shore each week. Both of these will provide you with a healthy dose of reality entertainment.

About this author: In addition to TV, this writer also frequently writes about indoor bunny cages and discount rabbit cages.

One Hit Bands Of The 1990s

Posted on June 29th, 2010 by Andrew Miller  |  No Comments »

The 1990s were a great decade of music. We saw the birth of many different bands whose legacy is still growing today. Bands like Pearl Jam, Radiohead, and Green Day are as big today as they’ve ever been before.

On the other side of the equation, there are some of those bands who penned a big hit, winning them a legion of fans. Unfortunately, these bands never managed to cash in on their success by following through with any more hits.

Having a look back at some of those ‘one hit wonders’ of the 90’s most people can ‘name that song’ and even the year it came out but no one ever remembers the name of the bands that sung them.

Take the song Breakfast At Tiffany’s for my first example. When this song emerged, the crowds went wild for it but as with many other one hit wonders, no one can recall the name of the band, can you?

I wouldn’t be surprised if you couldn’t, because they never neared the success of this hit anytime after. Their name was Deep Blue Something, and they are one of the quintessential 1990s one hit wonders.

Here’s another one. How about the song “The Way”? This one was released during the late 1990s, and many absolutely loved it. In fact, it still receives occasional airplay today. Unfortunately, the band was never ever to replicate the success shown in this song.

A third band to make this list of fly by night sensations is The Rembrandts. Amazingly, their song is played every single day, and many listen to it without realizing it.

That song, I’ll Be There For You, no not Bon Jovi but the one that was used as the theme song in Friends. It was really popular at the time but the band faded out not long after that hit was released.

Who will make the one-hit wonders list of the 2000s? As the decade has just ended, we may very well be able to create this list quite soon.

Aside from entertainment, the writer also regularly contributes articles about grass fed beef and meat saw blade.

Orgas Matron!! heterosexual asked:

I can create a new currency that nobody can replicate except for me. I will use my blood as the print, and then only ink matching my DNA will be authentic.

How do I go about starting the new currency? How can the exchange rate between my new currency and the dollar be determined?

What is the best way to get financial institutions to borrow my new currency from me instead of borrowing US Dollars?
